New York habits!

Since Sunday I have been in New York, looking after children and socialising with staff. So I feel like I've taken a huge step backwards. Possibly in my weight, but also possibly in my ethos.

So on Day 45, I got up at 3am. I had a banana then to kick off my metabolism. My flight wasn't until 8.30 so for breakfast I had a yoghurt with fruit around 7.30am. Then we had airplane food, which was a small mixed grill and an orange juice. Certainly small portions and I didn't eat much anyway. Once off the flight, we eventually got to the hostel and I was starving. I picked up a bottle of water and a packet of Cheetos.

We weren't eating until 8pm, unfortunately quite late, and we were drinking too. I had a peroni and I had the lightest thing on TGI's menu: chicken with salad and tortellini. Really yummy, and 800 calories. I had water for the rest of the evening.

Day 46 and I went to breakfast with everyone and had green tea and eggs Benedict. Really yummy, filling and fairly healthy. But in the evening, I had a few vodka and cokes with the other staff.

We then went to the Empire State Building, and we had dinner in an Irish pub. I had two cocktails, and a nacho salad. Again I was very aware of what I was eating and I thought I did well today. We also walked miles every day, which made me worry a little less. I had vodka again this evening, but everywhere else I had water.

Today I went to the same breakfast place but I wanted to try something authentic, so I had a waffle with bacon and syrup. Amazing!!! Calorific, I know, but I had to try it while I was there. Again green tea, to make me feel less guilty!! We went to the natural history museum, where I didn't have any lunch but I had a diet coke. Then we walked through Central Park to the Rockefeller, For dinner we went to bills burger bar at the Rockefeller, and I had a burger with sweet potato fries.

I know by this point I wasn't being healthy at all, but I was still trying to take in minimum calories by skipping food or balancing it out with water or green tea.

I skipped the nice breakfast place today and instead picked up a granola yoghurt from the shop. This made me feel good!
today we walked to the piers for a cruise in the morning, where I shared a pretzel, and drank water. For lunch we went to grand central and I had water and a slice of pizza. Then for dinner, we all went to a restaurant together for a set meal. We had salad, a cocktail, nachos, chicken and some fries. I didn't eat too much, just some of everything! I skipped dessert.

The last day in NYC! Today, I had eggs Benedict again for breakfast with green tea. Then we packed up and headed to MoMA and on to 5th avenue, where I stopped for lunch in Starbucks for a panini and green tea.

We then went on to the airport that evening and before we took off I had a hot dog and fries, with water.

A few hours later on the flight I had a couple of gins to get me to sleep, and a very small portion of chicken curry with rice.

We landed today at 8am, and i got back to Hertfordshire by about 10am. I skipped breakfast, and went straight to visit my new house!! Unfortunately no food in the house so we did shopping, and skipped lunch too.

By about 3pm we shared some nachos, and around 7pm I had chicken fajitas.

Today is the last day of my non-diet week!! It didn't intend to be like that, and I did try hard, at times, to eat or drink healthily. However, I really did want to experience American food while I was there: I feel that I would be very unfair not to allow myself to have life experiences at the same time.

I did take a sneaky peek at the weighing scales this morning and I think I have put on 4lbs. However, with the change in time and body clock, I think I need to give myself a couple of days to stabilise.

Today I haven't been the healthiest!!! I started off with baked beans, one slice of bacon, 1 slice of whole meal bread and 3 sausages (cooked on George Foreman grill). I skipped lunch but had mini eggs! And tonight I'll be eating late and having a curry!! But I have been drinking green tea today, and will try to be healthier tomorrow. It's difficult when you've started bad habits again. I need to kick them all back into shape!!

I'm going to weigh in on Monday morning, in 2 days, to sort myself out once more!

Half term...

So last night wasn't great. I got my house keys and was so busy seeing the house, then playing in a show, I hadn't eaten all day. It got to 11pm so we had a Chinese.

We had ordered a lot, but I ended up just having an egg roll and some duck pancakes. So it wasn't horrendous.

However, as we are moving house and therefore have zero food in the house, we are eating rubbish. I feel bad admitting all this but I may as well be honest!

I had a bit of chow mein and sweet and sour chicken for breakfast! Then at lunch I had a pot noodle! Then for tea, I had a steak with peppercorn sauce, roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots. Awful, right? I have tonnes of excuses/reasons, but I'm going to try to keep the weight consistent over the next week whilst in NYC so I don't take a big step back after half term.

I jumped on the scales tonight after dinner and I had put on 2lbs. To be honest after all that, and weighing at night, I expected it to be higher!!! I will try to remember to weigh in tomorrow so I can see how much difference there is between now and when I return from NYC.

I've got to be up at 3am tomorrow so I've already bought myself a banana for breakfast, to try and get back on the wagon!

Wish me luck!!

Weigh in

I've had an exhausting week, not getting home until 11 every day, running music concerts every lunch etc. however, I did try to make sure I had a salad for each dinner this week. It must have paid off, because I am now 16 stone and 6 lbs! Lost 4 lbs this week.
My aim for the next week is to simply keep it off. I don't want to plateau or yoyo up and down, I just want to make sure I keep it off, ready to lose more! Total loss so far: 1 stone 8lbs, in 43 days!

Update

So today, I was good! I had 2 cups of green tea, not enough water (as usual), a slice of toast for breakfast. However, it did go a little downhill! I didn't have time for my banana at lunch. I had dinner early but I had an omelette, and one chicken quesadilla. It was probably too much but I was so hungry! I'm even hungry now. I think I just need to get back in my good routine.

For the next three days, i won't be home until 11pm. Because of this I'm going to make sure I buy a nice but very healthy salad for dinner each night that will keep me going! Fingers crossed by Friday

Every cloud...

Well, I haven't done well!

Day 37 I was in Florence, walking miles and miles. I was absolutely exhausted. Being in a continental hotel meant they didn't have fruit on the go for breakfast, so I had some scrambled eggs. As I was in Florence, I had spaghetti carbonara for my lunch, which is full of carbs. I had stomach cramps after so I wonder if my digestive system has been getting used to more healthy foods.

That night I didn't have dinner but I did have a late snack as I didn't get back in to the hotel until 11pm.

Day 38 took me to Siena, where I completely forgot my healthy diet!! I had an ice cream with whipped cream, as well as half a pizza. I knew I was full so I didn't finish it. I did tonnes of walking too, but with all that food, I knew I had put on weight.

Due to a late flight last night again I had a snack around 10pm. I did aim to drink lots of water and green tea to try and balance out all of these sins!!

So weigh in day... And I'm back to where I was this time last week. I put on three pounds and I'm back to 16.10. My only concern is that next week I jet off to NYC, so more turmoil in my diet schedule. Who knows what I will be weighing in at in 2 weeks.

The one silver lining is my partner mentioned that when he hugs me, he can feel that I've got much slimmer. So I did some measurements this morning too, and he's absolutely right!

I've now gone down to a 40 inch waist, 50 inch hips and 15 inch arms. That certainly did make me happier!! So I'm back on the health kick today to see if I can shed a couple of pounds by Friday.

Weigh in

Well this week was unsuccessful in healthy eating. Although I did manage to eat at a reasonable time each night, and ate breakfast, I'm not eating lunch properly. Barely an apple throughout the day. And not enough water.

Be that as it may, I lost another 3 pounds this week, to a grand total of 1 stone and 5 pounds!

I'm not holding out much hope over the next few weeks. I currently haven't eaten since 5am as I've been travelling to Italy all day and I'm starving so I'm going to find a pizzeria I think! With doing a show every lunch and evening all week this week, and off to NYC next weekend, it's too hectic to consider food!

Mid week mayhem!!

Sunday resulted in good breakfast, good snacks, but sadly, a really late dinner, which fell heavy on my stomach.

When weighing this morning, I felt heavy due to last nights dinner. And lo and behold, I hadn't lost weight over the weekend. I won't be too worried if by Friday I've lost at least two pounds.

I'm not eating properly at work, at all. Today I had my normal breakfast, then I had an apple while I was at work. That was it. Then lovely sausages and salad for dinner. I would like to find the time to eat lunch properly. However, if I continue to lose weight like this and remain energetic and healthy, then I don't mind continuing this way.

A lazy weekend

I feel like I've really got used to eating well now, and I don't even feel hunger pangs or real cravings for bad food. Of course I'd still like to be able to eat them! But I feel like I've got some great willpower at the moment! I went to the pub tonight for a pub quiz, and I drank a lime and soda water, the most low cal drink apart from tap water. Also, there were crisps on the table and I felt no need to have any.

I've found I haven't been eating well at all. I have my morning toast but I've been missing the fruit, and at lunch I don't get around to having the salad, I only find time to eat the fruit. I do want to make sure I eat salad too, but I have no lunch breaks, so it is a bit difficult. I'm also not drinking enough. I'm having loads of green tea, 2 or 3 cups a day, which I'm really enjoying. But I lose my water bottle straight away, and can't ever find it again!! This is a problem!!!

So today is weigh in day. And the end of the month. I've gone through one whole month and it wasn't horrendous. It was actually, really good. And this One month down, 11 to go!

So, weigh in, and from Monday I lost three pounds. I am now 16 stone and 10 pounds, and altogether, I've lost 1 stone and 2 pounds.

My measurements now are:

Waist: 41.5"
Hips: 51"
Thigh: 30"
Arms: 16"

This means that I have so far lost an inch and a half around my waist, an inch around my hips, an inch around my thigh and no change around my arms. This is in the space of 2 weeks. I quite like seeing this slow change. More importantly, my jeans are too big. Yay!

Tonight, however, is my father-in-laws birthday, and as tradition has it, I will be eating Chinese takeaway with the family. I will have to be very careful about what I eat.

So yesterday, I made sure to only drink water in the evening with the takeaway, and I ordered a special chow mein, as that seems to be the healthiest thing from a Chinese, from research. However, it was the only dish that also didn't show up!!! So I had a bit of everything else, some rice, a rib, some stir fry, etc. I tried to be really careful and I certainly didn't feel overly full afterwards either. This morning I jumped on the scales, and I seemed the same weight, so I feel quite happy about that. Today I've been out buying more fruit and veg, I've eaten healthily all day, but I'm feeling a bit peckish now!! I think a cup of tea and an early night might be in store!
